Sturgeon Falls, Manitoba is a world-class river surfing destination ideal for aspiring river SUP surfers! For some, Sturgeon Falls can be an intimidating spot to paddle. Our goal of this clinic is to familiarize you with the Sturgeon Falls site and the different waves so that you’re confident and comfortable surfing the waves, with a focus on having fun and being safe.
Topics include: tour of the site and surrounding area, introduction to the names of the waves, river hazards and safety awareness, river reading and dynamics, river surfing etiquette, and of course surfing standing waves!
If you’re an ocean surfer, this clinic is a great way to transition your skills to the river.
This clinic is ideal for those who have previous ocean or river surfing experience, and/or those who have completed our Introduction to River SUP Skills course (River 1) or equivalent. Advanced paddlers are also encouraged to attend. Feel free to contact us with any questions. We highly recommend signing up soon as space is limited to 4. We’re also running Intro to River SUP Skills course on the same weekend. Sign up for both and save $50!
Equipment is provided and we will have our fleet of Badfish SUPs with us so that you can experience river surfing using boards designed for the river (see the Gear tab below for more details).
Special Warning: You will have lots of fun and you will definitely get wet during this course!
